The restoration works of the spire are finished. Meanwhile, the scaffolding has been put up on the octagonal tower.
The works will start as soon the restoration project (P.A.T. = Plan Architectural et Technique) of the architect of the Monuments Historiques is agreed by the French state.
The restoration operation will be realised in order to preserve the monument and former restorations and to avoid damages falling elements may cause.
Conservation treatment will be realised on the octagonal tower and its staircases according to the various pathologies and deterioration of the stones.
Of the hanging vault, 57 missing lilies (of 256 stone lilies) will be carved and put back at its places.
Ten statues will be treated for conservation. The original statue of Saint Catherine (from about 1420), on the south west side, will be taken down for preservation and examination.
Two missing sundials will be carved (after models in the plaster cast collection of the Foundation) and replaced at the northwest and south west corners of the tower.
Various photographs taken in 1897 show a stone sphere situated on a balustrade on the upper part of the octagonal tower (south west side). The sphere will be carved after an old tracing and put back to its place.
